Is duct tape legal in classrooms?

If it is I'm going to use a WHOLE lot of it! The past two days have been horrible at work. The kids pick on each other all the time. Yesterday and today I told some kids to grow up and start acting their age. Had a student drop the F bomb several time in my room yesterday. I stood there in shock. I teach special education and I like what I do, but sometimes I wish there weren't so many laws "protecting" these kids. Where is the law that protects me from students who ask me to give them and F-ing minutes, followed by the use of the word several more times. Where is the respect!?!? Yes I teach children with disabilities, but their disability isn't in respect or knowing right from wrong. What parent allows a child to think it's okay to speak to someone like that. Sheesh, I just don't get it.
It's getting busy out there!

I've noticed that it's that time of year where everyone comes out of the wood work to come and work out. I had to wait a couple minutes to get a treadmill. Then I couldn't get a treadmill that has unlimited time. I could only get a 30 minute one. That ended up being okay since after 15 minutes I was ready to stop. However, I didn't! I kept going and got my third workout in this week! WOOHOO! I met my goal!
I'm a little embarrassed!

Okay, I'm a lot embarrassed! I am a special education teacher and one of the classes I teach is Recreation. Here is the course description: This course promotes lifetime participation in physical fitness. Students will be introduced to various recreation and leisure activities that can be performed individually or with a group. Focus will not be on competitive team sports. Students will be able to apply learned activities to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
So basically this class is a gym class. I have no gym to take the kids to so we do everything in my classroom. I recently bought Tae Bo Kicks. The DVD is meant for kids. I thought it would be great for this class. I'm embarrassed because I could barely do some of the exercises. Here I am the teacher whose supposed to be teaching these kids about life long physical fitness and I'm fat, over-weight, and sedentary. Did I just say I AM sedentary. I forgot to tell ya I started back at the Y this week. I went today and yesterday!! So proud of myself. I'm also proud to say that LH went to the Y today too and worked out!

A New Fat Plan

Because the one I've been on ain't workin'! Before the miscarriage I was pretty good at getting my behind to the Y. I had stopped tracking points and "watching" what I was eating. After the miscarriage all hell broke loose. I stopped going to the Y and I ate everything that would fit into my mouth. Needless to say I've gained a couple pounds. Oh all right, I've gained several pounds. I'm to the point where I look in my closet and think I have nothing to wear. This is of course not true. I've got plenty of clothes to wear, it's just that I'm not comfortable in them any more. So after my weigh-in last week (I have been consistently weighing my self. Just didn't post it the past two weeks because I'm embarrassed.), I decided I needed a new fat plan. My friend LH and I are trying to come up with a fat plan together. We both know what we need to do it's just motivating ourselves to do it.
In the past I've always started with "watching" what I eat, be it counting calories, points, protein, etc..... Working out never seemed to really make it's way into the picture. This past summer was really the most I've probably exercised since high school (I used to be an athlete believe it or not). This time my plan is to focus on exercise. I of course will be watching what I eat, but to start no counting nothing! My goal for this week is to go to the Y at least three times and walk on the treadmill for at least 30 minutes. As time goes I will build on my amount of times and minutes.
To be honest with you I'm not real excited about this, but I know it needs to be done. Here in Indiana there is a commercial that shows the artery of a 32 year old person who smokes. They squeeze the fatty deposit out of it. Supposedly cigarettes cause the fatty deposit. I give the hubby a hard time about him smoking and how that artery could be his. I've now realized that I have absolutely no room to talk because my arteries probably look the same, but not from smoking. So, here's to a new fat plan!
OH OH OH!!! I found the commercial on YouTube. You can watch it here, but I'm warning you it's gross.
